Nature whispers and I listen, femininity guides the forms
“Each piece is a unique expression of textures, layers and gentle forms. My hands shape the imperfect beauty and grace found within.”
My Inspiration
Nature and landscape is the core of my inspiration, connecting me to my present and past, as well as my femininity. I translate these experiences and memories into clay.
Tree bark, rough and weathered with texture, patterns, and layering, speaks to the strength and resilience within imperfection.
Tree canopies, swaying grasses, and delicate ferns awaken a sense of creative possibility with their play of light and shadow.
Fallen leaves in autumnal tones, more pronounced and fragile, remind me of the delicate beauty of fleeting moments.
My Background & Heritage
My Indian heritage and upbringing in Kenya instilled in me a deep love for earthy colours and delicate, tactile textures.
Memories of Kenya's contrasting landscapes – the fiery glow of the savannah's red soil, the whisper of dried grasses, the abundant plant life – continue to inspire my work.
The towering jacaranda in our yard was a childhood sanctuary I played under, immersed in the textures and patterns of tree bark and nature.
Inspired by my crafting mother, who instilled in me a love of working with my hands, my art draws upon these warm memories of my youth
My Process
Simplicity and authenticity guide my process.
Clay in my hands takes on the textures of memory, botanical imprints whisper of fleeting moments, and layers of glaze echo the landscapes that stir my soul
My Creative Philosophy
My hands, my heart, and the whispers of nature guide my creative journey – a journey grounded in authenticity, vulnerability, unexpected simple moments, and fuelled by passion.
Authenticity: Expressing the textures of memory, emotion and self through clay.
Revealing and honest in form, embracing the marks of the maker.
Passion: Fuelled by a love for the process, and the joy of expression and learning
Space for the unexpected in craft and process
Vulnerability: Finding beauty in imperfection and unexpected forms. Allowing intuition and emotion to guide my hands
Femininity - my nature…..and a feminine sensibility that shapes my forms
