Winter in the Studio: Preparing for Two Turning Earth Markets in London

New Winter Raku Collection

The festive season is one of the busiest times in the studio. The hum of creation fills the air as I rush to get pieces made, dried, and into the kilns in time. With two Turning Earth markets in a row, I’m balancing creativity, logistics, and the unpredictability of winter weather to bring you something special.

With two markets so close together, I’ve had to plan carefully. For the first market at Turning Earth Leyton, the focus will be on pieces I’ve already made. Expect a selection of vases and tableware, perfect for gracing your Christmas nibbles table or adding warmth to your home this season.

New Set of Winter Landscape Vases

For the second market at Turning Earth Highgate, I’m excited to introduce new creations, including a Raku collection and Landscape-inspired vases. These one-of-a-kind pieces are perfect for gifting or as a special addition to your home. I’m also working on a small batch of botanical bowls and a limited number of porcelain drinkware, which I hope will make it through the firings and glazing in time—fingers crossed!

Limited Number Tableware Offerings in the making

The cold weather presents its own set of challenges. Clay takes longer to dry, and timing everything to align with kiln firings becomes even more critical. It’s a race against time, but one filled with excitement as I watch each piece come to life.

On top of making, I remind myself to share the journey with you—through blog posts like this and on social media. Balancing ceramics with my part-time architecture work makes this season a whirlwind, but it’s one I embrace with joy.

I can’t wait to share these pieces with you. Whether you visit me at Turning Earth Leyton or Highgate, each market will offer something unique, from cherished favourites to new creations. Come say hello, and let’s celebrate the season with handmade ceramics.
